SEO that drives revenue, not rankings alone
It is possible to rank well and still have SEO that does little for the business. Rankings are easy to celebrate and easy to mistake for success. The useful question is always whether organic is producing revenue, and whether anyone can prove it.
Start with the technical foundation
Content cannot outrun a broken foundation. If pages are slow, hard to crawl, or poorly structured, even good content underperforms. Fixing indexation, speed and structure is usually the fastest early win because it lifts everything already published.
Build content around intent, not keywords
A keyword list is not a content strategy. What matters is why someone searches and what they need to see to act. Content mapped to real intent ranks better and, more importantly, converts better once it does.
Use internal linking as strategy
Internal links decide where authority flows. A deliberate structure points that authority at the pages that earn revenue, rather than leaving it scattered. This is one of the most underused levers in eCommerce SEO.
Measure against revenue
When SEO is judged on organic revenue rather than rankings alone, the work changes. At scale, that reframing is what turned organic into a channel that doubled search-driven revenue in my own experience, rather than a vanity dashboard.
Key takeaways
- Fix the technical foundation before chasing content.
- Build content around intent, not a keyword list.
- Use internal linking deliberately to pass authority to revenue pages.
- Judge SEO on organic revenue, not rankings alone.
